Parent Discussion: A Group for Caretakers of Adults on the Spectrum

Sunday, October 22

Dr. Ted Brodkin, esteemed researcher and psychiatrist from the University of Pennsylvania, will discuss current research trends regarding adults diagnosed with ASD for a portion of the time for each group. The remainder of the time will be open discussion in the adult group facilitated by Dr. Eric Mitchell, and ASCEND board members Randi Rentz and Robert Schmus. The parent/caretaker group will be facilitated by Carol Weinman, Esq., a lawyer representing adults on the spectrum, behaviorist, and parent.

 

Sunday, November 19

The parent/caretaker group will be facilitated by experienced speech therapist, advocate, and parent, Carol Solon, with the theme, "Reflecting on those Moments of Pride." The adult group will choose the theme of their discussion, facilitated by Dr. Eric Mitchell, Randi Rentz, and Robert Schmus.

 

Sunday, December 17

The parent/caretaker group will be facilitated by Dr. Eric Mitchell with a theme to be determined by the group. The adult group will be facilitated by Carol Weinman, Esq., with the theme "Workplace Discrimination and the ADA." Randi Rentz and Robert Schmus will also facilitate groups.

Chips, Chocolate & Chat is a free gathering for adults interested in connecting with other self-advocates in a non-therapeutic group. is intended to provide opportunities for connection and discussion among participants. Held at the same time, but in a different room, parents & caretakers of adults on the spectrum are invited to participate in a group discussion.
